One of the simplest ways to make travel easier starts before your trip even begins. It has nothing to do with flights or hotels. It’s about how you move through airports and borders.
As a travel advisor, one of the most helpful tools I recommend to many clients is enrolling in a Trusted Traveler Program through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

These programs allow pre-approved travelers to use expedited lanes at U.S. airports and international border crossings. Less waiting. Less stress. More energy for the trip itself.
Let me walk you through the options and share how we help our clients choose and apply with confidence.
What Trusted Traveler Programs Do (and Why They Matter)
Trusted Traveler Programs are risk-based programs for travelers who pass a background check and complete an application and interview process.
Once approved, members gain access to faster security or border processing depending on the program. This can mean:
Shorter airport security lines
Faster entry back into the U.S. after international trips
Quicker land border crossings
They don’t eliminate every delay, but they significantly reduce the most frustrating parts of travel.
TSA PreCheck®: Easier Security at U.S. Airports
I often recommend TSA PreCheck® for clients who travel domestically, even just a few times a year.
With TSA PreCheck®:
You use a dedicated security lane
Shoes, belts, and light jackets stay on
Laptops and liquids stay in your bag
It’s valid for five years and works at most major U.S. airports. For many travelers, this alone makes flying feel far more manageable.
Global Entry: A Smoother Return Home from International Travel

For international travelers, Global Entry is often the best all-around option.
Global Entry speeds up the process of re-entering the U.S. after an international trip. Instead of standing in long passport lines, members use expedited kiosks or automated lanes.
An important bonus: Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck®, so you get faster security on domestic flights too.
Children can enroll at no additional cost, which makes this a strong option for families who travel internationally.
NEXUS: For Frequent U.S.–Canada Travel
If your travel regularly includes Canada, NEXUS is worth considering.
NEXUS provides expedited processing when crossing between the U.S. and Canada by air, land, or sea. It’s designed for travelers who cross the border often and want a predictable experience.
Some members also receive TSA PreCheck® benefits.
SENTRI: Faster Crossings from Mexico into the U.S.

For clients who frequently cross the U.S.–Mexico border by car or on foot, SENTRI focuses on reducing wait times.
SENTRI provides access to dedicated lanes when entering the U.S. from Mexico. Depending on eligibility, it may also include TSA PreCheck® benefits.
What the Application Process Looks Like
All Trusted Traveler Programs require:
An online application
Background vetting
An in-person interview
Some applications move quickly. Others require manual review, which can take longer and varies by individual. Once conditionally approved, applicants schedule an interview at an enrollment center or participating airport.
Because interview availability can affect timing, planning ahead matters.
How Toastable Travel Supports Our Clients
Trusted Traveler Programs are meant to make travel easier, and a little guidance can make them feel even simpler.
We start by understanding how you travel and help you choose the program that fits best. Then we walk you through the application process, sharing clear steps and helpful tips so you feel confident from the start.
Once you’re conditionally approved, we help you prepare for the interview and stay connected until everything is finalized. Our goal is to make the process smooth and stress-free, so you can focus on enjoying your trip—right from the airport.
A Small Step That Makes Every Trip Better
Faster security and smoother border crossings don’t just save time. They protect your energy and reduce travel stress from the very beginning.
If you’re wondering which Trusted Traveler Program makes sense for you, or if you’d like help applying, I’m happy to walk you through it. This is exactly the kind of behind-the-scenes support we love providing.
